This position serves as the principal office administrative support position in the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Management and Strategy Deputy Area assisting the Division Director by carrying out and coordinating all day-to-day administrative support activities which are required to accomplish the work of the Division.
Duties
Performs administrative duties for an office such as answering phones, receiving visitors, routing correspondence, and maintaining files and records.
Maintains supervisor's calendar and makes arrangements for meetings conferences, trainings, within an office.
Purchases and controls inventory of office supplies and equipment.
Maintains an office budget and tracks budget performance.
Works within a team to develop and implement ways to improve efficiency; and effectiveness of services and products for internal and external customers.
Requirements

Qualifications
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. (Please submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No Award or General Adjustment SF-50's will be accepted). Time-in-grade requirements also apply to VEOA applicants having held a GS position in the past year. See addition information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:
Specialized Experience for the GS-09: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
Answering inquiries on administrative functions to assist internal staff;
Utilizing computer software to draft reports, correspondence, and develop presentations;
Maintaining an office calendar to include coordinating meetings and making appointments;
Responding to telephone inquiries or referring to appropriate contact; and
Coordinating logistics and equipment or supply needs for various meetings or conferences.
