The Harry S. Truman VA Hospital, in Columbia, MO is recruiting for a Program Support Assistant (PSA) position for the Operating Room (OR). The PSA functions as the Administrative Data Processing Applications Coordinator (ADPAC) for the Vista surgical Package and clerical support/receptionist for the Operating Room (OR)/Same Day Surgery (SDS)/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

Duties

Surgical Program Support The incumbent maintains the surgical service computer programs and system to gather, record, process, and report data. Incumbent provides direct supp011 for VIST NDHCP/CPRS GUI, Microsoft Office PC applications and Automated Data Processing (ADP) for department personnel in the use of their ADP applications and computer packages. The incumbent is responsible for developing, maintaining, or modifying data management programs necessary to accomplish a user's objectives. This requires knowledge of Surgery Service and Operating Room functions, computer equipment, and programs used by the Surgery Service. The incumbent will serve as a liaison between the Department of Surgery, Information Resource Management Service (IRMS), Surgery Service Line and surgeons. The incumbent has frequent interactions with professional, technical, and clerical staff. OR Administrative Support The incumbent will assist the Team Leader in requesting and scheduling surgical procedures, entering room, date, estimated time of procedure, and surgeon following established computer package protocols. The incumbent maintains Operating Room policies, procedures, and case cards on the VA's intranet Surgery Service Line web site. The documents will be created, maintained, and revised as necessary within Microsoft Word/Excel and then placed on the intranet web site. Additional Duties The incumbent maintains all training records for OR/SDS/P ACU personnel. The incumbent provides direct support to Logistics and Sterile Processing Departments by creating forms on the computer, updating and maintaining inventory logs related to the Operating Room The incumbent also provides backup support in the established "Borrow/Loan" agreement between the University of Missouri's Operating Room and the HSTMVH Operating Room. Other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm - may be adjusted to meet the needs of the organization. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/28/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-5) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Gathers, consolidates, reviews and prepares data/ information for routine and/or special reports; monitors clerical/administrative functions and makes recommendations for improvement/modification; orders and maintains adequate level of supplies; serve as timekeeper. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Position requires frequent repetitive motions, manual dexterity, walking, standing, climbing, lifting bending, pushing/pulling and prolonged periods of sitting, as well as, the emotional stability to handle difficult problem solving solutions.
