About the Position: This is a branch level Administrative Assistant (OA) position located at the Engineer Research and Development Center with the Business Support Divison.
Duties
Provide customer service and communicate clearly and interact via face-to-face, telephone, email, and other modes of communication.
Organize and prepare approval material for processes such as conferences, official correspondence, training, and foreign travel as required.
Establishes, maintains, and files office records; sorts mail.
Verify time and attendance using the automated financial management system, ensuring availability of funds and accurate timekeeping and leave reporting by staff.
Maintain branch files as required by applicable regulations. You will format, print, route and mail documents and correspondence as requested.
Anticipates clerical/administrative needs and prioritizes to meet deadlines.
Other Administrative/General Support Duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DK-303-3 (equivalent to GS-6/7). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
