About the Position: As an Administrative Support Assistant for the Mat Sinking Unit, you will organize and accomplish all clerical and administrative functions support of a large river revetment unit.
NOTE: Incumbent will live on the quarter boat during Revetment season, approximately 20% of the time.
Duties
Independently carry out the day to day administrative work of the office.
Prepare data required for fiscal year operating budget to include salaries, travel and all direct and indirect costs for the various elements.
Serves as a primary point of contact (POC) for matters related to the automated financial management system (CEFMS).
Answer telephone calls and greet visitors to the office, screen caller/visitor ascertaining name, affiliation, and purpose of call/visit.
Receive/process correspondence and documents transmitted through the office of the Division or District Support Team Chief for review, approval and/or signature.
Prepare detailed itinerary for official travel (inspection trips, conferences, appointments) of the Division or District
Serve as the point of contact (POC) for preparing and coordinating requests for personnel actions.
Maintain property and supply, operating budget, incentive awards, training, travel, timekeeping, suspense files, records management, personnel actions, preparing correspondences, etc.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must live on the quarter boat during revetment season. Approximately 20 percent of the time.
- Must be able to navigate uneven surfaces, slopes, muddy riverbanks, stairways, gangplanks, etc.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, (1) procuring supplies, equipment, and/or materials for an office/organization; (2) performing tasks concerned with purchases, incentive awards, training, travel, timekeeping, records management, and correspondence; (3) communication skills to interact with supervisors and other staff; and (4) requesting personnel actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
