About the Position: This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project. The Administrative Services Assistant provides staff support to Executive Office within the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL), U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).

Duties

Coordinate and track budgets and expenditures for budget and recommends modifications. Review and format all official correspondence through the chain of command. Uses word processing and other type of software to process and produce a wide range of documents. Prepare specialized reports that include the development of unique graphs, charts, spreadsheets, and tables. Prepares and submits the Board of Coastal Engineering Research (BCER)Annual Comprehensive Review (President’s Annual Report) at the end of each fiscal year. Prepares briefings for Deputy Commanding General for Civil and Emergency Operations (President of the Board), CHL Director and CHL Deputy Director. Operate and maintain a government purchase credit card for business resource requirements (i.e. office supplies, BCER) Makes travel arrangements for BCER and CHL Executive Office Director and Deputy Director. Process travel documentation in CEFMS, maintain itineraries (visible or digital calendar); follow up and assist with preparation of travel vouchers and travel documentation. Maintain all standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidance documents, and updated official formats and templates for BCER, ERDC, USACE and DoD Forms and documentation. Maintain a digital calendar (Outlook) to track all relevant events including travel, meetings, workshops, conferences, training, administrative suspense items (e.g. time and attendance record), and other significant events. Prepare specialized reports that include the development of unique graphs, charts, spreadsheets, and tables.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Approximately 10% Temporary Duty Travel.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DK-04 (GS-8 thru GS-10). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, Laboratory Demonstration Project employees must have a current average performance score of at least 2.5 or equivalent (fully successful rating) for promotion consideration. Experience required: To qualify at the DK-04 grade level or equivalency, your resume must describe experience which prepared you to do the work in this job, at least one year of equivalent (DK-03/GS-7) specialized experience; Provide assistance to a wide variety of administrative programs necessary for day-to-day operation, review incoming regulations relating to personnel programs, advise senior management on administrative functions and operations, and assist with preparation of travel vouchers and travel documentation. Physical Effort: The work is mostly sedentary. Occasional travel will require standing, walking, bending and light lifting of adminstrative documentation. The work involves standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing up and down ladders and scaffolding, and pulling and pushing at various stages of assignments to assemble items and install assemblies. Working Conditions: The work is done in a well-lighted, heated, office. This announcement MAY be used to fill like vacancies six months from the closing date.
