This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), DHS Headquarters, Office of the Chief Security Officer, Personnel Security Division.
The primary purpose of this position is to support the DHS Industrial Security Program.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As an Industrial Security Specialist, GS-0080-12, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Keep apprised of changes and advances in the areas of national security, critical infrastructure protection, interagency security, industrial security, systems security, and personnel security, as well as advances made in other security disciplines potentially impacting on the DHS industrial security program.
Make security risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies recommendations based on the threat environment and intelligence-derived threat vectors.
Conduct security surveys, inspections, and compliance reviews in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, Presidential Directives, Executive Orders, interagency directives, and DHS and component policies.
Prepare and analyze reports, responses to queries, justifications, and background papers on the technical aspects of areas of expertise and assignment.

Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Reviewing and enforcing programs, goals, priorities, policies, and commitments of Industrial Security Program;
Conducting periodic security reviews and other security oversight actions to ensure contractor compliance with regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and/or other security agreements; and
Implementing the process and procedures associated with security incidents and investigations, and knowledge of safeguarding and storage requirements for classified information, foreign ownership, control and influence, and national interest determinations.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
