Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to develop strategies to protect the country from threats, acquire and support the deployment of the domestic WMD detection system to detect and report attempts to import, transport, or use biological weapons, illicit chemical supplies, nuclear devices, and radiological and nuclear material intended for illicit use. This position starts at a salary of $132,368.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $172,075.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $172,075 (GS-14 Step 10). Duties performed: Recommending short- and long-range goals of the organization, develops detailed plans for implementing them, and oversees implementation of the goals in subordinate organizations. Conducting comprehensive evaluations of ongoing functions to ensure that the organization meets its stated goals, and identifies areas where operational efficiency can be enhanced. Directing the capture, reporting, and analysis of statistical data relating to the organization's operations and directs or personally performs special studies or projects. Recommending actions necessary to maintain or improve the quality and quantity of operational services that involve the introduction or refinement of automation, reorganization of operating sections and units, reassignment of personnel, and development of proposals to increase the organization's resources, or other actions.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Developing management plans that integrate business, technical and support requirements for administrative programs; Preparing reports and other presentations on program planning and evaluation; Recommending and participating in developing strategies for implementing planning for a major office or program; Providing advice and guidance in areas that require extensive interpretation for many different and unrelated program processes and methods; Researching, analyzing, and providing expert technical advice and assistance on complex program issues. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 07/17/2023. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
