You will serve as a PIPEFITTING WORKER in the UTILITIES DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will cut, bend, silver solder, thread, caulk and assemble various types and sizes of pipes and fittings using various types of shop and portable machinery, tools, and equipment. You will secure system for outages, supervise excavation, prepare plans and lays-out piping for valve network. You will assist other trades in the ship-to-shore utilities shop to provide temporary utility to ships. You will plan and lay out work to a minimum allowing for obstructions such as walls, machinery and pipes. You will inspect systems and ensure connections to piping, tanks, pumps, pressure vessels, meters, traps, expansion joints, thermostats and various types of manually or mechanically operated valves are pressure tight.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This position is subject to emergency recall seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
  • This position may be job sited. The employee may be required to report for work at a location other than a permanently assigned location.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION 1) Inspecting systems to ensure connections to piping, tanks, pumps, valves, etc. are pressure tight; 2) Assisting journey-level employee in packing, adjusting, and repairing valves; 3) Assisting journey-level employee in installing hangers, brackets, and other supporting fixtures.
