You will serve as a PIPEFITTER LEADER in the UTILITIES DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will lead a group of pipefitters in the operations, maintenance, repairs, and alterations of Navy's steam, high pressure air, low pressure air, saltwater cooling/fire protection, and demineralized water distribution piping system. You will review assigned job orders, plans and specifications, plans layout work and worker assignments. You will assign work to subordinates taking into account established schedules and priorities, worker capabilities, and workload distribution. You will inspect work in progress and upon completion to assure compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. You will be responsible for the maintenance of work records and prepare reports requested by higher supervision.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Installing, modifying, and/or repairing new and existing piping systems and equipment for potable water utility systems; 2) Preparing plans and laying out piping for valve network ensuring the effective operation of the system; 3) Cutting, bending, silver soldering, threading, caulking, and assembling various types and sizes of pipes and fittings using various types of shop and portable machinery, tools, and equipment.
