This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), US Coast Guard, Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Engineering and Logistics Directorate (CG-4), Office of Environmental Management (CG-47) in Washington, DC.

Duties

The incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert on a wide range of natural resource management laws, regulations, and executive orders.

Requirements

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 level applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal service.  Specialized experience includes: Serving as a subject matter expert on natural resource management laws, regulations and executive orders; advising on federal and state environmental regulations in the planning, scheduling and conducting environmental-related projects and studies; developing environmental management programs for compliance of federal laws and regulations; serving on a team to manage an environmental program; analyzing, preparing and tracking environmental data; assisting in the planning and administrative oversight of a natural resources management program; utilizing general office computer software to generate environmental program reports, spreadsheets, databases, documents and training materials; and managing an environmental project. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
