This position serves as an administrative Support Assistant (OA) GS-0303-07 assigned to the medical service, Gastroenterology Section located at the Sacramento VA Medical Center within the Department of Veterans Affairs Northern California Health Care System (VISN21). VNCHCS which is a major inpatient and outpatient tertiary referral center with two hospital-based divisions serving the VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21).
Duties
Major duties include, but are not limited to the following:
The incumbent serves as the administrative Support Assistant located within the veterans health administration as part of the Sacramento Veterans Administration Medical Center, in support of the Chief, Medical Service and the Supervisory Health System Specialist Gastroenterology Section.
Principle responsibility is to provide full administrative support to the Gastroenterology Clinical Program.
Incumbent will assist the GI Chief in coordinating the annual e-performance as well as the 6 monthly OPPE reports for all GI faculty
Participate in various facility programs designed to enhance and improve the delivery of patient care services such as Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams.
Work Schedule: Full Time. Monday-Friday. 8:00am-4:30pm.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/26/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Proficiency Requirements: (Office Automation) In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.
Typing requirement for this position (Office Automation) of 40 *words per minute typing speed. *Words per minute are based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Preferred Experience: Extensive customer service experience and works with minimal supervision. Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

Qualifying Education: Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement for two-grade interval positions in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position,

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of the organizational functions and procedures of the work unit to perform such duties as refer phone calls and visitors, and provide general, non-technical information. Knowledge of correspondence requirements to check for proper grammar, spelling and punctuation and to review documents for conformance with formats and procedural requirements. Knowledge of the office procedures, filing system and various references and handbooks commonly used by the staff in order to classify, search for and dispose of materials. (This experience must be well documented in your resume.).

Physical Requirements: The work is normally sedentary, but includes some walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items such as papers and books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
