Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing.
In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
All initial attorney positions to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis.

Duties
The U.S. Attorney's Office is currently accepting applications for one AUSA position for Financial Litigation section of the Civil Division.
The Financial Litigation section is responsible for ensuring pre-judgment identification and freezing of assets, post-judgement recovery of assets to pay fines and restitution in criminal cases, and affirmative civil actions to recover debts owing to federal agencies, including in bankruptcy proceedings.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the pursuit of civil cases such as enforcement of federal agency debt, actions to recover fraudulent conveyances, and investigation through the use of depositions, subpoenas, and judgment debtor examinations, as well as representation of agencies of the U.S. as a creditor in bankruptcy matters.
The position requires coordination with the Criminal Division, Clerks Office, Probation Department, as well as other USAOs and DOJ components. The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of cases involving victims of crime, collection of restitution, money judgments in favor of the United States, and protecting interests of U.S. agencies in bankruptcy proceedings. Candidates with experience in the areas of creditors rights and/or bankruptcy are preferred.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member in good standing of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least three (3) full years of post-bar admission attorney experience.
United States citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should have strong academic credentials, superior legal research and writing skills, quick analytical ability to accurately and precisely articulate critical case-related issues, courtroom experience, good interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a supportive and professional team environment with client agencies, support staff and other attorneys, and a demonstrated commitment to public service.
Applicants must possess excellent computer skills. Experience with automated research, electronic court filing, and various word-processing systems, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, is required.
