About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security - Kinnard Mission Training Complex, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville. Both visitors & residents enjoy the shops & eateries of downtown Hopkinsville & Clarksville. The cost of living is lower than the average for all major U.S. cities.

Duties

Serve as the primary Mission Training Complex (MTC) Point of Contact for Exercise Planning and Operations. Oversees and manages the consolidated MTC operations calendar. Facilitate and direct event lifecycle planning efforts and coordination activities with MTC staff for approved training requests. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities and prepares schedule for completion of work. Provide government oversight of several follow-on planning sessions (in process reviews, initial, mid and final event planning conferences, etc.) which are necessary in preparation for the execution of the training event.

Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position has an irregular tour of duty and may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays and in other situations.
  • This position is designated as a Key Essential Position.
  • This position is subject to a one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized Experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent at the GS-12 grade level in the federal service which includes: 1) Experience with beginning the necessary planning and coordination to support approved training requests and remaining current in Modeling and Simulation developments; 2) Experience with overseeing Mission Training Complex (MTC) planning that translates the Commander's training objectives and intent into the necessary training event execution plan and commitment of MTC training resources, equipment, personnel and facilities required to create the desired training environment to support the training event; 3) Experience assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments and the capabilities of the employee and changing regional conditions; 4) Experience identifying developmental and training needs of employees, providing for or arranges needed development and training; and 5) Experience with exercising personnel management responsibilities to include recommending changes that will impact the budget or personnel staffing, etc. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the GS-13 grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education / Training Program AdministrationPlanning and EvaluatingProgram Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50 that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. You must meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements.
