The VA is committed to providing services to families of Veterans with mental health concerns and is hiring a Social Worker (Program Coordinator) at the advanced level in the VISN 22 Mental Illness Research Education & Clinical Center (MIRECC) at the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System for VA's National Family call center, Coaching into Care (CIC). Manages VISN 22 CIC operations, including staffing, policies & budgeting. Serves as first line supervisor.
Duties
**This is a Term appointment Not to Exceed 4 years.
Duties included but are not limited to:
Oversees Coaching into Care (CIC) program operations and evaluations, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement and evaluating efficacy of improvement efforts.
Participates in decisions affecting the basic content and character of the operations of the CIC quality management assurance programs.
Oversees the clinical work of the other CIC staff who work in the CIC telephone support program in the VISN 22 MIRECC and conducts performance appraisals as required by VA policies.
Administratively responsible for the clinical programming and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use.
Oversees the management and technical aspects of the call center and its database.
Responsible for the program's budget, developing and monitoring staff compliance with practice, standards and guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice and service delivery.
Provides behavioral interventions, including ongoing skills training as appropriate and support for callers.
Provides over-the-phone coaching to family members of Veterans to assist the Veteran with obtaining mental and/or physical health care.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements
Citizenship: Citizen of the United States.
Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the advanced practice level. Current state requirements may be found by going to http://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/.
Education: Master's degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for master's degree in social work.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
GS-12 Social Worker (Program Coordinator) Experience: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification: Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program.
Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.
Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s).
Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice.
The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-12.
The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-12.
