This position is located within the Environmental Management Service (EMS) at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, NY. The work of the Program Support Assistant requires knowledge of the procedures and techniques involved in carrying out the work of the various organizational units that comprise EMS and involve the application of procedures and practices within the framework of established guidelines.
Duties

The major duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as the primary timekeeper for EMS;
Serves as the Talent Management System (TMS) coordinator, giving access codes and training to the employees to access the web site and courses and keeping track of employee mandatory training;
Serves as a Purchasing Agent, making purchases, maintaining credit cards, preparing procurement pages and following up responsibility;
Reports balances of fund control points and requests the funds, transferring funds from control points for the projects;
Determines signage needs to meet the requirements of the station, contracting for fabrication and installation of signage and making the necessary arrangements for change and replacement signs;
Serves as the Automated Data Processing Application Coordinator (ADPAC), enrolling employees into systems, training employees on the systems for login-logout process information, assisting users in the basic understanding of computer functionality, etc.;
Screens visitors and telephone calls;
Distributes mail;
Maintains suspense files to track due dates;
Prepares typed correspondence as required;
Organizes and maintains files and records, manuals, handbooks and other related materials; and,
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-6 level, you must meet the following:
Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the federal service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Program Support Assistant, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes performing a wide variety of clerical and administrative support duties; performing record keeping and tracking data; preparing various documents such as memorandums, reports; answering telephones and responding to questions/needs that arise; using automated software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); handling conflict and problems in a constructive and appropriate manner; utilizing utmost tact, poise and diplomacy in dealings within and outside the facility. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
