Duties

You will perform clinical case management duties, which includes receiving reports of suspected child and spouse abuse; providing safety planning, risk assessments, treatment, and education services related to child abuse and spouse abuse. You will provide short term, solution focused, psychological counseling for individuals, couples, families, and groups utilizing outcomes based therapeutic modalities. You will develop and facilitate group treatment programs to address the needs of families. You will identify crisis situations and provides crisis intervention and safety planning as required.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • Candidate must successfully complete a criminal history background check with no adverse information or feedback received. A Child Care National Agency Check and Inquiries (CNACI) is required via the SF86 Security Form.
  • This is a non-critical sensitive position requiring access to ITII systems and/or access to PII.

Qualifications

This position is a TIER TWO clinical care practitioner. Applicants must meet all of the following requirements as outlined in SECNAVINST 1754.8: 1. Possess at least a masters or doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines: a. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) or an equivalent degree, OR b. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or an equivalent degree, OR c. Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or an equivalent degree, OR d. Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school and a one-year APA accredited clinical internship 2. State or U.S. territory license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of Licensed Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology. 3. When the state or U.S. territory licensing or certification requirements include a written examination, candidates for privileging, must have achieved a passing score on that examination. 4. Must have engaged in two years, full-time, post-masters supervised clinical experience. Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identifying personal and social problems to independently reach accurate conclusions and to provide appropriate solutions; 2) Clinically responding to the needs of clients including assessing suicidal/homicidal situations and domestic and child abuse situations; and 3) Documenting psycho-social assessments, treatment plans, and case review committee reports. For the 0180 Psychology series:

Applicants must have successfully completed 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or successfully completed all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology in an accredited educational institution.

For the 0185 Social Work series:
Applicants must have successfully completed a degree in social work that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In lieu of specialized experience, the following education may be substituted to meet the minimum qualifications requirement:

Applicants may have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

OR

Applicants may have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

OR

A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
