About the Position: Serves as a technical expert and advisor in the G-3 Directorate for Strategic Integration; manages, develops, coordinates, and integrates input into DoD, Army, and AMC strategic planning processes and documents for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology.
Duties
Provide G-3 representation and functional support on various strategic work groups that are involved with developing and executing strategic planning and reengineering functions that are multi-disciplined and cross Command boundaries.
Integrate and prioritize the strategic planning, concept development and life-cycle management resources in response to Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) activities.
Utilize expert knowledge in developing and interpreting guidance on program planning and evaluation across of Army Material Command (AMC's) core competencies related to Army acquisition.
Identify, verify and assess causes and methods to resolve specially designated problem areas, or policy impediments that affect strategic planning and life-cycle management, in support of Army leadership vision and initiatives.
Provide recommendations, advice, and counsel to General Officers and Senior Executives concerning major decisions and potential changes in program direction.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a Critical Acquisition Position. Unless specifically granted a position waiver by the Director of Acquisition Career Management or the Army Acquisition Executive the following requirements are mandated:
- Selectee must execute a written tenure agreement to remain in Federal service in the position for at least three years.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Life Cycle Logistics- Advanced certification within 48 months of entrance on duty.
- This position may require 15% temporary duty travel (TDY); Note: Travel may include garrisons, manufacturing facilities, ammo storage areas, and overseas visits.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) Advising leadership on the impact of current and future environmental changes, including reduced resources and changing missions; 2) Performing comprehensive studies and analysis of organizational programs, policies, missions, and functions as it relates to the Command; and 3) Working with senior analysts to manage major actions and special analysis of command-wide scope and reviewing actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
