This position is in the U.S. Depart. of Transportation (DOT), Office of the Secretary (OST), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Infrastructure & Operations (I&O). The I&O office integrates innovative IT services into comprehensive solutions to enable secure effective business operations for DOT and provide direct services to DOT customers. I&O institutionalizes new methodologies & processes while improving overall program performance & ensuring continuous customer satisfaction.

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (Network Engineer/INFOSEC), you will be:

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.To qualify for the Grade 15, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-14, it must include: Experience in supervising a team of network engineers in the design, implementation and management of IT systems (voice, video and data) to support customers at multiple locations across various regions, local and state. Experience in managing the implementation and operations of various network-based technology such as Cisco, Firewalls, Wireless, VoIP, LAN/WAN, Enterprise network security, 802.11 wireless solution, IPv4 to IPv6 migration planning, or VTC for multiple locations across various regions, local and state. Also experience in Multi-Protocol Layer Switching (MPLS), Software- Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP). Experience in network project management that includes requirement and scope development, solution architecture, cost estimating and resource management. In addition to meeting the above described specialized experience requirements, your IT experience will be evaluated and be expected to include described experience in the following competencies: Attention to Detail: Work is thorough and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Working with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, providing information or assistance, assigning staff to resolve their problems, or satisfying their expectations; knowing about available products and services; committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expressing information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); making clear and convincing oral presentations; listening to others, attending to nonverbal cues, and responding appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifying problems; determining accuracy and relevance of information; using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and making recommendations based on technical requirements.
