You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTOMER SUPPORT) in the Wounded Warrior Regiment, within M&RA of HQ US MARINE CORPS.

Duties

You will design, develop, test, deliver, and support the IT application systems and services. You will identify Battalion web-page shortfalls and customer issues and take action to support new or existing application software. You will analyze and refine requirements, participate in internal planning and decision making meetings and conferences, and provide advice. You will program complex queries and reports, data dictionaries, data model, spatial meta-data repositories, and/or data management tools. You will analyze ad define data requirements and specifications, design, normalize, develop, install, and implements databases, and structured query language (SQL) procedures in support of Windows and web-based systems. You will provide input for the configuration and subsequent maintenance of systems including servers and operating software on which application programs run. You will maintain accountability of all information technology and information management devices (computers, monitors, printers, BlackBerry devices, mobile telephones, etc.).

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Information Assurance Technical level II within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following as defined: developing or maintaining strategic plans; assessing policy needs; identifying and addressing workforce planning and management issues; preparing budgets; and project management. In addition to the specialized experience, you must demonstrate competency in the following: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: conducting audits of IT and communications programs, developing policies, and providing policy guidance. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: identifying and refining user requirements to establish plans for current and future IT needs, coordinating new requirements with various services, agencies, and organizations. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Maintains a channel of communication with all activities concerned to receive comments, provide explanation, and resolve issues as project manager. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: conducts technical inspections for projects in progress and during operation testing, ensures compliance with requirements and specifications, and develops technical solutions to various IT and communications problems.
