About the Position: This position is located with the US Installation Management Command, US Army Garrison Fort McCoy, Public Affairs Office at Ft. McCoy, WI. Fort McCoy is located in west-central Wisconsin, midway between Chicago and Minneapolis, just off Interstates 90 & 94. Duties

Conduct proactive media relations program, escort media on post, and brief on Fort McCoy programs and activities and their impacts. Perform digital production and identify emerging trends and technologies, to include website and social media platforms. Attend a variety of meetings representing the Public Affairs Office. Maintain proactive communication with key community groups to include business and civic. Conduct installation tours for community and business groups. Plan, direct and coordinate priority functions within the Public Affairs program. Ensure historic Commemorative Area facilities, documentation, artifacts and supplies are properly handled and maintained. Assist functional editor of the bimonthly installation newspaper with ability to supplement role as needed. Prepare written documents to include informational materials and products designed to reach audiences through various forms of publication to support Fort McCoy?s and its Mission. Write articles for public news release and use within the agency.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Journalism or Public Affairs. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and MediaOral CommunicationPlanning and EvaluatingTeamworkWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????09).
