As an Information Systems Security Officer with the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Cybersecurity & Privacy Division, Cybersecurity Mission Integration Team, you will work across multiple NASA Centers, providing cybersecurity expertise and guidance, directly embedded to a NASA mission. In this role, you will ensure that the operational security posture is maintained for mission information systems in adherence with Federal and NASA requirements, guidelines, and policies.

Duties

Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Perform the day-to-day cyber security operations of systems operating under a managed mission security program. Provide cyber security policy, programmatic and technical guidance and expertise on risk levels and security posture. Perform activities under a managed risk management framework to support cyber security goals and objectives, thereby reducing overall organizational risk. Design, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of cybersecurity controls and safeguards in all phases of the system life cycle to ensure that they provide the intended level of protection. Develop security policies and procedures and ensure compliance with those policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Interpreting and adapting cybersecurity guidelines for complex issues and problems; Performing Risk Management Framework process activities; Working with cybersecurity activities for specialized IT or mission focused services, such as ground systems, space instruments, spacecraft and networks. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Leading cybersecurity activities for specialized IT or mission focused services, such as ground systems, space instruments, spacecraft and networks; Leading Risk Management Framework process activities and related documentation; Providing cybersecurity technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and technical specialists on critical security issues. AND IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
