This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize medical supplies and equipment used in all areas of the hospital.
Distribute medical supplies and equipment to medical personnel.
Disassemble and reassemble equipment for thorough decontamination.
Test quality of all equipment used in the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments.
Requirements
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One-year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- A pre-placement medical examination may be required.
- Rotating shifts include the following: 0700-1530; 0900-1730; 1500-2330; 2300-0730.
- May be required to work evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays or other schedules common to hospital operations.
- Must be able to consistently lift 45 pounds independently and over 25 pounds with assistance.
- Employee may be required to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and provided by the employer.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential.? In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Sterilize medical supplies/equipment for use in a hospital; 2) troubleshooting sterilizing equipment and machines; 3) Inspecting medical supplies for defects, 4) Maintaining medical inventory to ensure daily operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
