About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI.

Duties
Perform all photographic duties of the Ophthalmology Service, Department of Surgery.
Perform ocular screening/testing.
Coordinate with the operating room and/or Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) personnel for the appropriate setup.
Ensure the sterility and appropriate function of all equipment and supplies before surgery.
Serve as scrub assistant to the surgeon in major and minor surgical procedures.
Screen patients and verifies allergies.
Record and charts all data.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Updating patient records with medical and ophthalmic history; 2) Measuring vital signs and visual acuity; 3) Administering eye drops for examination; 4) Assisting providers in operating room.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
