Duties

You will operate stake bodies and water tankers to transport construction supplies and equipment. You will operate dump trucks in order to pick up loads from material loaders such as skip loaders, draglines, clamshells, power shovels, grade-alls, and road sweepers. You will perform operational inspections of vehicles for loose parts and broken or cracked springs. You will load and unload materials by hand or loads self with loader when deemed necessary. You will keep daily records showing time of departures, arrivals, standbys, loading, unloading, breakdowns, and driving time with mileage readings.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid commercial Class B driver's license and be able to obtain a California State Class B Drivers License with a Haz-Mat endorsement to operate a fuel truck.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position requires lifting and carrying weights up to 45 pounds or more for short distances.
  • This position requires employee have normal vision and hearing with or without corrective devices, depth perception and the ability to distinguish basic colors to differentiate colors of curbs, etc.
  • This position requires working both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather with occasional exposure to excessive intermittent noise, fumes, smoke and working around machinery with moving parts/objects or vehicles.
  • This position requires protective equipment be worn, such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, hard hats and safety shoes are furnished as required.
  • This position requires employee to furnish basic hand tools typical of the trade. Special tools pertaining to the trade will be furnished by the organization.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Work of the position includes operating vehicles and trucks with gross vehicle weight ratings of up to 32,000 pounds.
