You will serve as a Motor Vehicle Operator in the Southwest Regional Fleet Transportation Division MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will serve as a motor vehicle operator engaged in work related to vehicle operations, transporting cargo, heavy equipment, and passengers. You will operate gasoline or diesel powered trucks or truck tractors with trailer or semi-trailer coupled by use of a turntable (fifth wheel) or pintle (pivot) hook. You will drive vehicles either on a specific basis or upon regularly established schedule and route to transport material and equipment. You will load and unload material or direct others in this task, checking material loaded or delivered against records of various types to ensure against errors, and obtain signatures of receiving individuals. You will inspect air hoses and connections in braking systems, and checking lighting lines.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You must be able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 100 pounds in weight.
  • This position requires which requires a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for this position. I am willing and able to submit to a SCHR check.
  • You must have normal depth perception and the ability to distinguish basic colors. You must have normal hearing with our without corrective devices.
  • You must qualify for and have license endorsed to operate tankers, passenger transport vehicles, placarded vehicles transporting hazardous materials or wastes, and double trailer combinations within 30 days of date of employment.
  • You must possess and maintain a valid California Class A Commercial Driver's License.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Can Perform the Work without More Than Normal Supervision. Sample task for this position include the ability to perform common tasks including performing driver before operation checks, operator maintenance services, properly load and secure loads, safely operate vehicles, work under supervision of a Work Leader or journeyman-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly and safely performed.
