The Smithsonian Institution is a diverse museum and research complex dedicated to the increase and diffusion of knowledge. The purpose of the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) is to educate the public about the development of aviation and spaceflight. The museum collects, preserves, and displays aeronautical and spaceflight artifacts of historical significance. This position is located in the Business Operations and Technology Directorate. 

Duties

The Management Analyst manages front and back office functions for the internship or fellows program, as well as Museum-wide purchases, travel, financial processing, timekeeping, general correspondence, documents and general office support. 

Requirements

  • Requires career/career-conditional status or eligibility.

Qualifications

For information on qualification requirements, see Qualification Standards Handbook for General Schedule Positions viewable on OPM Website. GS-09: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as:  Experience coordinating opportunities, managing stipends and onboarding selectees for interns and fellows. Experience gathering information to improve issues in an organization while recommending new systems, procedures for organizational changes. Experience making recommendations to management through presentations or written reports and working with management to monitor progression of policies. OR you may qualify with Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. GS-11: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal Service.  For this position, specialized experience is defined as:  Experience reviewing and approving internship applications, managing stipends and onboarding selectees for interns and fellows. Experience maintaining intern database for purposes of tracking. Experience developing plans, tasks, milestones for the purpose of onboarding interns and fellows. OR you may qualify with Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or LL.M., if related. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week. Special Instructions for Foreign Education: If you are qualifying by education and/or you have education completed in a foreign college/university described above, it is your responsibility to provide transcripts and proof of U.S. accreditation for foreign study. 

Education

You can qualify with education, although you do not have an IOR. Refer to the above for education requirement. Education can be substituted for experience at these grade levels.
