This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Legislation (OL), Medicare Parts C and D Analysis Group. As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-13, you will review, analyze, and evaluate proposed legislation, regulations and other administrative actions for CMS' programs.

Duties

Conduct legislative, economic, and policy analyses related issues under Parts C and D of the Medicare Program. Develop, recommend, and prepares legislative policies and proposals for consideration by senior policy officials in the Agency and Department for inclusion in the President's budget and legislative agenda. Reviews and prepares responses to press articles, external reports and studies, congressional statements, and proposed legislation to identify potential policy and technical issues and other concerns. Provides (or coordinate) technical consultative services to congressional members, their staff on legislation and related CMS activities often in collaboration with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Legislation.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
