This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-6. At the GS-5 level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-6. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds.
Duties

This position is located in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service, Boise VA Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. The Program Support Assistant performs highly complex administrative duties relevant to program functionality, development, evaluation and data system management in direct support of the Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS).???????
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintains clinic grid schedules, cancellations and creation of new clinics;
Ensures accuracy of clinics profiles and ensure timely submission;
Verifies that appointment cancellations and no-shows are properly documented to maintain the accuracy of clinic utilization;
Types, reviews, and edits outgoing correspondence;
Uses Microsoft computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
Uses office equipment such as fax machine, copiers and printers;
Drafts correspondence and maintains patient records within the electronic health record;
Assists with the creation of service level competency training plans for the clinical staff;
Manages a wide variety of clinical program administrative elements;
Assists with clinic outcome measure data;
And all other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:30am-4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-5 level, applicants must meet one of the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-4) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Program Support Assistant, GS-5 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes receiving visitors and phone calls; reviewing all incoming and outgoing correspondence; scheduling meetings; and utilizing office automation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. ~OR~
Education: Applicants may substitute education for experience. In order to qualify for the GS-5 level based on education, you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. If you are basing your qualifications on education or a combination of education and experience, you must submit a transcript to obtain credit. Combination: Applicants may combine experience and education to qualify. You must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-5 level. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates.
