The primary purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of information systems, Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN) support, and systems training for the Aerial Port Squadron (APS).
Duties
Administer and maintain information systems hardware.
Adapt or develop new work procedures and instructions for application by self and others.
Responsible for identifying, installing, and managing software upgrade requirements.
Provide guidance, assistance, and training to customers. Demonstrate processes or procedures to users.
Serve as the network security officer, plan and implement security plans, procedures, and training to comply with standards.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- This position may be required to work other than normal duty hours and overtime may be required.
- Work may occasionally require employee to travel away from normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Per DoD 8570.01-M,the incumbent of this position must achieve Information Assurance (IA) Certification within 6 months of assignment. Waiver of this requirement may be granted. Failure to receive (IA) certification may result in removal.

- The position requires extended periods of standing, walking, stretching, bending, stooping or carrying of loads of paper, tapes, or cards that may weigh as much as 20 kilograms (45 pounds).
- Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid
- Must be able to lift/carry items weighting up t 45 pounds unassisted.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in federal service which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position of Computer Assistant. Specialized experience is experience which may have been gained while assisting during performing scheduling, troubleshooting software and hardware problems, solving operational problems, detecting patterns/common causes for recurring problems, explaining system capabilities, limitations and output variations to users, developing input requirements for revised applications programs, and implementing and testing revised programs.

EDUCATION: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D., in a related field. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of automated data processing and networking standards, policies, and techniques.
Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and their interfaces, higher level programming languages, and other job control languages.
Knowledge of information processing sequences, controls, and procedures to provide user support.
Knowledge of facility environment and infrastructure to support computer systems.
Ability to use and maintain computer systems, equipment, and software; analyze computer network, software, and hardware problems; develop effective and economical solutions; and train users on new computer systems.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
