About the Position: The office is one of full responsibility for the development of Healthcare related facility projects for the maintenance, repair, sustainment, and upgrades of life-safety systems. It is a team environment to include internal and external customers. It is a people-oriented environment that demands excellent customer service. Applicants are expected to communicate clearly and be responsible for their projects. Flexibility is needed with shifting command priorities.
Duties
Prepare and design mechanical and life-safety systems in a medical treatment facility.
Perform quality assurance functions, inspections and monitoring contractor performance.
Plan and estimate renovation and repair projects involving mechanical fire protection systems within a Health Care Facility. Mechanical systems will include HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), Fire Protection, and Life-saftey Systems.
Perform quality assurance inspections and troubleshoot operational problems within these mechanical systems.
Support utility outages on these mechanical systems.
Prepare documentation of the maintenance of life-safety and associated mechanical utility systems and other utility systems comprised of mechanical components and controls as they are relevant to Joint Commission accrediation.
Plan and calculate mechanical system specifications and prepare cost estimates for competitive bidding of projects.
Investigate, analyze and resolve design problems and construction conflicts.
Test and maintain HVAC systems, hot and cold domestic water distribution systems, heating and chilled water distribution systems, medical gas systems, fire protection and extinguishing systems.
Provide engineering and technical assistance and/or labor support to resolve critical system or equipment failures of building systems, equipment and subsystems.
Develop project scopes of work, detailed design drawings, and pricing analysis for assigned small projects and assists engineers in managing large special projects.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
