You will serve as an Inspector General in the Force Inspector General (IG) Office of COMNAVAIRLANT.

Duties

You will serve as senior investigative official and the principal advisor to the Commander on all matters concerning inspections, investigations, and audit follow-up. You will plan, organize, and execute a wide range of complex activities for the CNAL Command Inspection Program (CIP) and the Exercise and Inspection Program. You will develop, integrate, and direct the CNAL inspection planning activities. You will manage complex programs/projects, plans, and identifies difficult issues requiring modification of existing policies or processes, performs analysis of potential mission impact. You will develop alternatives and/or resolutions to deficiencies; negotiates conflicting positions to ensure consensus from senior leaders. You will represent the IG with a variety of wing, functional area, local community, state, and federal organizations. You will conduct investigations, inquiries, and provide expert assistance to complaints. You will coordinate directly with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service on cases involving alleged criminal conduct; coordinates with the Navy Acquisition Integrity Office on contracting improprieties. You will maintain full accountability and current status of all cases referred for investigation or inquiry. You will develop investigative plans, conducts formal interviews and collects documentary evidence. You will prepare written investigative reports and briefs findings to the Chief of Staff, Commander, and senior levels above the employee as necessary. You will review and analyze final inquiries and investigative products to ensure that they are complete, impartial, and that investigative findings are fully supported by the evidence. You will manage and provide independent, impartial, and technical advice on specific subject matter to strengthen existing internal control systems. You will be responsible for the management, execution, and tracking of Manager's Internal Control Program per SECNAV Instructions and 0MB guidelines. You will train non-IGs on how the IG program operates and on specific standards, responsibilities, processes, and system related to non-IG activities. You will manage and direct the process of facilitating the exchange of information, including records, between auditors and personnel in the organization being audited.

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience and mastery of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of complex management processes and systems. Experience recognizing and analyzing problems, conduct research, summarize results, and make appropriate recommendations. Experience Ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply rules, regulations, and procedures. Experience planning, conducting and recording surveys and inspections. Experience Knowledge of goals, resources, objectives, organizations, functions, and sources pertinent to the program(s) and the organizations studied or served, and related customers, functions, resources, and users. Experience and skill in designing and conducting comprehensive management studies, and preparing solutions to especially broad, important, and severe management problems. Experience and skill in planning, organizing, and directing team study work, and effectively conducting critical negotiations with management. Experience and knowledge of cost and economic analyses principles, techniques, and practices. Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques. Experience communicating orally and in writing and giving oral presentations using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
