You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (Master at Arms) of NAVTECHTRACENDET.

Duties

You will facilitate classroom studies for security forces/law enforcement personnel using instructional techniques or formats (e.g., role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, lectures). You will Conduct Firearms Safety instruction in accordance with the Weapons Qualifications requirements for the use and care of assigned firearms. You will administer regular and supplemental examinations or tests to determine student progress You will monitor an individual's training track schedules to ensure certifications requirements, school scheduling, and quota management for training is completed. You will make presentations in formal or informal training classrooms.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • Must obtain Master Training Specialist (MTS) Certification within 12 months of employment.
  • 717B/Small Arm Instructor or equivalent certification required with a background of concepts that apply to small arms training and range operations within 24 months of employment.
  • The MA "A" school is designated as a high-risk course of instruction and all employees will be required to maintain high-risk instructor suitability in accordance with the OPNAVINST 1500.75 series
  • Obtain NLW Basic Instructor certification within 12 months of employment to include the use of expandable baton and level one contamination of OC spray.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Instructing others in the concepts, methods and techniques of the security forces/law enforcement field; 2) Using advanced security reactionary force combat skills to instruct security forces/law enforcement and weapons courses; 3) Utilizing instructional design principles and methods in order to develop plans or policies for measuring achievement of instructional objectives; and 4) Developing, designing and revising security forces/law enforcement instructional materials to further educational development. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled OR Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled OR Obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled; OR possess a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
