About the Position: The Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care is a mission critical program making a difference in the lives of returning soldiers and their family members. We need professionals to provide assessments and counseling in the treatment of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Together, we can make a difference.

Duties

Perform professional counseling and addiction medicine treatment in support of patients with an alcohol and substance abuse diagnosis. Apply complex rehabilitation principles to conduct comprehensive substance use evaluations. Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans. Document case records consistent with clinical standards of care.

Requirements

  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP), you will be required to pass an applicant test and will be subject to random drug testing
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • Must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • Must obtain and maintain a favorable result from a criminal history background check.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Substance Abuse): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting clinical assessments of substance abuse patients; formulating behavioral health treatment plans; and providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Care ManagementCase ManagementClinical AnalysisTherapy and Counseling Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
