This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with Department of Behavioral Health, Family Advocacy Program, Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Duties

Make treatment recommendations to the multi-disciplinary Family Advocacy Program Case Review Committee. Provide therapeutic treatment to victims, offenders and family members of those involved in domestic violence or child abuse or neglect. Conduct comprehensive and complex risk assessments, clinical interviews, and psychosocial assessment of children and adults. Work independently as a licensed clinical social worker using advanced concepts, principles, procedures, practices, professional knowledge and sound judgment.

Requirements

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience assessing incidents of domestic abuse and/or child abuse/neglect cases; interviewing victims, offenders, children and family members regarding allegations of abuse or neglect; and developing treatment plans based on identified problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Selective Placement Factor: This position requires 2 years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
