This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is with Department of Behavioral Health, Family Advocacy Program, Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Relocation expenses will not be paid.
Duties
Develop and maintain professional standards of service, initiate and implement changes in methods that will promote efficient practice and coordinate social work services with other programs of service.
Obtain relevant data from legal, investigatory, medical, commend, social service agencies, schools, resource programs, etc. to compile information to be presented for a determination of abuse or neglect.
Perform crisis intervention services and appropriate triage to assist in the protection and safety of victims and families.
Conduct comprehensive clinical intake interviews with children and adult family members to include interviewing victims, offenders, children and family members regarding allegations of abuse or neglect.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a Childcare National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (CNACI) background investigation and has periodic re-verification requirements.
- This is an Inclement Weather Essential position, you must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced certification (e.g., Advanced Life Support) does not supersede BLS completion.
- This position may require occasional on call duties.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges
- A current and valid state driver's license is required. Some local and regional travel may be required.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical):
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interviewing victims, offenders, children, and/or family members regarding allegations of domestic violence, child abuse or neglect; providing crisis intervention or therapy to abusers or victims of abuse; developing treatment plans to those involved in abuse; and providing administrative or technical oversight to others. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Selective Placement Factor: This position requires 2 years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse.
License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
