Duties

You will assign work to subordinates; ensure that the Pre-Job Safety Brief to employees is completed when applicable; requisition tools, materials and equipment. You will interpret blueprints and prepare layouts, patterns, sketches. You will train employees in proper and safe work procedures, use of new equipment and safety practices. You will coordinates tests, power outages, safe clearance procedures and special services with various Shipyard codes and military personnel.

• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF AN ELECTRIC POWER CONTROLLER SUPERVISOR WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Plans, assigns and directs work at the worksite; 2) Interprets logs, charts, graphs for proper operation of equipment; 3) Instructs workers, corrects improper work methods, and ensures personnel are properly trained to perform duties of high-voltage electricians and electric power controllers; and 4) Ensures quality and quantity of work completed by subordinates is satisfactory.
