About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off of Interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County.
Duties
Identify a wide variety of reclaimed parts and component items, and material from disassembly and processing line operations in maintenance rebuild shops.
Examine items to determine condition (serviceable/unserviceable).
Identify and classify a variety of track and road wheels from combat vehicles.
Inspect maintenance shops hazardous and no-hazardous waste satellite storage areas.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Federal Wage System employees, WG/WL/WS etc., must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot medical examination.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Forklift License.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Examiner & Identifier without more than normal supervision.Identify and determine a wide variety of parts and material received prior to turn-in to stock or to salvage by researching supply manuals, technical manuals (TM's), parts lists, drawings, and shop project orders.

Physical Efforts: Work requires continuous physical effort including standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing and pulling heavy material. Frequently lifts items weighing up to 40 pounds. Worker obtains assistance from other workers when handling weights over 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed outside with exposure to weather elements and inside maintenance shop buildings. Incumbent is subject to cuts, bruises, and scrapes in moving or handling palletized material. Worker is subject to hazards connected to working close to moving equipment. Worker is required to wear safety belt when riding electric cranes. Since exposure to hazardous materials/waste is possible, as necessary wears protective clothing and equipment such as rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc., as situations warrant.
