About the Position: This position is located at the 59th Medical Wing - Joint Base San Antonio - Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center; Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
Duties
Assist the Directors in administering the residency programs by providing technical and administrative support in the areas of accreditation, program requirements, and academic records.
Provide guidance and assistance to the Directors and Chief Residents in planning and developing Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs in accordance with standards prescribed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
Create, update, maintain, and manage sensitive databases for the program to ensure accurate and timely information management.
Design, compile, and distribute tools to ensure completion of monthly rotation evaluations, staff evaluations, rotation critiques, intern and resident rotation critiques, self-evaluations, and research evaluations for each resident and fellow.
Use database software to enter, revise, sort, and retrieve data for training files system, historical training files, and for tracking results of resident board certifying examinations.
Utilize a personal computer, which uses Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook to perform daily requirements and produce a variety of documents.
Compile, develop, write justifications, coordinate, and submit requirements for the annual budget.
Prepare and coordinate all purchase requests for office supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative support for a hospital residency program, maintaining personnel files, and utilizing automated systems to produce a variety of documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
