About the position: This position will be assigned to The Arts and Crafts Center on Edwards AFB Ca.
You will oversee the daily operations of the arts and crafts program.
This is a Regular Part Time (RPT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave.
Duties
The purpose of this position is to develop and implement an annual program plan to include all core programs and activities in coordination with
other installation organizations. Manages all arts and crafts programs, including engraving, framing, woodworking, self-enrichment classes,
special events, and others. Oversees auto hobby center and car wash operations. Evaluates hours of operation annually and establishes them
based on customer demand and available resources. Develops and implements weekly programming, including instructional classes, recreational,
educational, and cultural programs. Conducts a competitive market analysis on/off base annually to ensure program relevancy. Uses and
evaluates participation records, customer comment cards, surveys, focus group interviews, and other market research methods to assess the
overall quality and effectiveness of programs. Maintains an annual program calendar, updated quarterly, which includes Recharge for Resiliency
(R4R) and AFSVC Central Programs. Develops a long-range special event plan (2-3 years out). Conducts an annual self-assessment of each
facility as part of the budget process.
Arts and Crafts Center Assistant Director must offer the following:
- a minimum of four resale programs, including unique hobby or craft items, displays and demonstrations, special sales events, special orders,
consignment items, and auto resale.
- a minimum of four special event programs, including crafts fairs, special art sales, group arts or crafts shows, arts and crafts contests,
photography contests, and artist in action exhibits.
- a minimum of six Do-It-Yourself (Self-Help) programs, including pottery and ceramics, photography, fine arts, lapidary and jewelry, fabrics
and miscellaneous crafts, and auto hobby.
- a minimum of 24 instructional classes, workshops, or seminars in any or all of the Do-It-Yourself programs.
- a minimum of two Fee-for-Service programs, including engraving, custom framing, embroidery services, and automotive services.
Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities and deadlines. Assures that
mission and accuracy requirements are met; interviewing and selecting applicants; conducting performance evaluations; hears and resolves
grievances and complaints; with the approval of higher-level supervisor(s), initiates corrective and/or adverse action for performance conduct;
schedules and grants leave; identifies training needs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- May be required to work nights, evenings, weekends, family down days.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and provide a clean driving record from the DMV.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in program management, arts administration, or a related
field is desired. Strong knowledge of arts and crafts programs, including engraving, framing, woodworking, and self-enrichment
classes. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in
Microsoft Office and other software applications.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
