The primary purpose of this position is to perform work involved in the identification, examination, classification, acceptance, and disposition of complex categories of materials and equipment. The position requires the use of motor vehicles.
Duties
Receives, examines, verifies, and identifies complex categories of materials and equipment, such as those which are toxic, radioactive, perishable, classified, high-valued equipment, precious/strategic metals, and complex electronic or mechanical equipment, assemblies, and components.
Maintains an aggressive surveillance inspection program on stored/on-hand items; verifies items/equipment are properly identified and marked; utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area
Receives, examines, and determines condition of a wide variety of complex items and materials to be turned in/removed; performs most complex disposal tasks such as those required in dealing with reuse, salvage, and sales preparation of a wide variety of complex items and materials
Monitors special programs, computerized listings, and documentation/records such as the Repair Cycle, Time Change, and Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) programs; operates a variety of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, or dump trucks, which typically have a gross vehicle weight or more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 pounds
Uses precision measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and multimeters, and other various measuring devices, such as depth, thread, and wire gauges and calipers to inspect electronic, industrial, construction, and other equipment and materials to determine improper assembly, repair needs, and potential equipment malfunction

- This position may require travel; work may occasionally require travel away from normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
- This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection
- Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
- Selectee may be required to serve a probationary period or trial period
- Shift work and/or overtime may be required to support mission needs
- An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, weekends, and/or holidays
- As required, may train and/or guide lower grade employees

- (con't) walking and standing for prolonged periods of time; and bending, stooping, and pushing and pulling heavy material along conveyor lines. Work requires reaching, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls
- Position demands occasional work under stressful conditions

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the 6900 - Warehousing and Stock Handling Group . Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision
