Duties
You will activate and deactivate security systems to allow access to authorized personnel.
You will analyze situations to arrive at the appropriate action or solution to support security efforts.
You will explain security policies to employees and the general public to enforce safety procedures.
You will patrol the interior and exterior of buildings to maintain general building security.
You will inspect containers, personal property, and documents on persons or vehicles for protection of people, property, and facilities.
You will operate, monitor, and assess sensor systems for a restricted area to only allow access to authorized personnel.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards in accordance with Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) directives.
- Incumbent is subject to 24-hour recall notification and is required to respond per command policy. Maybe subject to being interrupted from meals or other work breaks while on duty.
- Successfully complete/pass required CNIC directed Navy Security Forces Training Course, as well as,
reoccurring training requirements.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications

For the GS-06:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Authenticating identification for access to restricted areas; 2) Regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain traffic flow and security operations; 3) Granting or denying personnel access into restricted areas; and 4) Preforming private and commercial vehicle inspections and package inspections following prescribed procedures to ensure only authorized property is brought into or removed from facilities.
For the GS-05:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. 1) Physically examining identification for access to restricted areas; 2) Assisting with regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain traffic flow and security operations; 3) Monitoring personnel access into restricted areas; and 4) Preforming private and commercial vehicle inspections.

Additional Conditions of Employment:
Must be able to certify and/or re-certify in the use of all security guard equipment.
Required to receive training on the use of oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray (pepper spray) in a controlled training environment, to include the experience of receiving the spray to the facial area.
Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards in accordance with Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) directives.
Pass annual physical agility test.
