You will serve as a SECURITY GUARD in the OPERATIONS of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY ORLANDO.
Duties
You will check and secure buildings, spaces, and areas internal and external to the main facility to protect personnel, property, and facilities.
You will apprehend violators of laws, rules, or regulations to turn them over to police.
You will interview persons to obtain information for investigations into criminal activity.
You will aid in the flow of traffic for cases of emergencies, moving of aircraft, special ceremonies, or other activities.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- The DON does not employ individuals for Law Enforcement Officer positions who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence on or after 27 November 2002. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Required to wear protective clothing such as ballistic vest, helmet, etc.
- Must obtain and maintain current certification for CPR and First Aid.
- You will be required to complete periodic physical ability test.
- This position requires the ability to lift over 50 lbs.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Protecting U.S. Navy property and critical national strategic warfighting assets from hazards including, but not limited to, acts of terrorism, sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft, fire and accidental or willful damage and destruction; 2) Demonstrating experience in the application of specialized personnel access controls, protecting and preventing unauthorized access to critical sensitive/restricted areas, classified items and/or hazardous materials that could affect public health or safety; 3) Demonstrating specialized knowledge, skill and ability to subdue combative violators that may resist detainment.
