About the Position: This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)).

Duties

Establish and nurture relationships with national, state, local, and military leaders with vested interests in improving quality of life for service members and their families. Analyze child and youth programs; establish goals and measures supporting the needs of service members and their families. Develop a variety of programs, services, and training responsive to the needs of service members and their families. Function as an expert to formulate policies and strategies to promote child and youth programs. Develop policies, strategies, support implementation, and administration of policy, and strategic plans. Provide training on current initiatives, strategies and or concepts regarding child and youth developmental programs.

Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Specialized Experience for GS 14: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating child and youth development programs, collaborating with stakeholders to address the needs of service members and their families, incorporating trends analysis of program requirements into policy recommendations, advising senior management officials on policy or procedural changes of programs addressing the needs of military families and their families, and establishing goals and objectives to advance child and youth development programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Time in Grade Requirement for GS 13: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Time in Grade Requirement for GS 14: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). A writing sample may be required by management within the interview process.
