This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Expert Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA-ENTERPRISE ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE (OE31).
Duties
Serves as an expert consultant for network modeling activities to the Enterprise Engineering Directorate.
Determines the effect of unforeseen networking impacts across projects and technologies, and performs analysis to develop recommendations to reduce operational impacts.
Integrates and coordinates experts within DISA, DOD and industry, pursuing research and development projects involved in architectures for information infrastructure, and implementations.
Participates in planning, development, and maintenance of DISA and DoD enterprise-wide applications and services.
Coordinates efforts, provide advisory services, and perform reviews which require extensive contacts with senior leadership, top engineering and scientific personnel within DISA, other government agencies, and industry partners.
Evaluates performance of DISA, customer and contractor support organizations involved in meeting program objectives. Identifies and evaluates strategies for improving contractor support.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Basic Requirements:
For the Electronics Engineer GG-0855 Series
A. Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-15, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience as a systems engineering architect in developing information architectures or modifications thereto, or participates in the development of Department-wide or Federal architectural policy, guidelines, frameworks and implementations, to include the ability to articulate technical information to senior leaders.
