About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Supply Technician within the Joint Pathology Center (JPC) located at the Forest Glen Campus in Silver Spring, MD. Work is in an office setting utilizing cubicles as workspaces, work schedule will be 0700-1630. The incumbent can expect to contribute to the clinical care of patients by assisting with a wide variety of logistics.

Duties

Utilize knowledge of medical/pharmaceutical terminology and numbering systems sufficient to identify products used regularly in a laboratory environment. Search catalogs, records, and other automated data sources to obtain or correct manufacture part number or to find authorized substitutes for the required materiel request. Manage ordering and receipt process. Use a variety of electronic data processing systems, acquisition systems, financial systems, and personnel verification systems to perform daily supply operations. Conduct physical inventories and adjust or maintain inventory, stock, or property records. Maintain accounting and reporting systems for non-expendable property and perform standardized property management control processes. Utilize knowledge of DMLSS and ECAT systems as purchasing vehicles for small purchasing matters. Contact customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others to obtain material status information. Follow up on urgent requirements and serve as expediter for delivery of material to the customer.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
