About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Supply Technician within the Joint Pathology Center located in Silver Spring, MD performing a wide range of systematized supply operations to include maintaining records, inventory, storage, cataloging, and receipt control processes. The incumbent performs supply operations for material, equipment, and publication and keeps accurate and detailed records of all transactions for audit and inspection purposes.

Duties

Utilize knowledge of medical/pharmaceutical terminology and numbering systems sufficient to identify products used regularly in a medical treatment facility (MTF) environment. Search catalogs, records, and other automated data sources to obtain or correct manufacture part number or to find authorized substitutes for the required materiel request. Manage ordering and receipt process. Use a variety of electronic data processing systems, acquisition systems, financial systems, and personnel verification systems to perform daily supply operations. Conduct physical inventories and adjust and/or maintain inventory, stock, or property records. Maintain accounting and reporting systems for non-expendable property and perform standardized property management control processes. Contact customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others to obtain material status information. Follow up on urgent requirements and serve as expediter for delivery of material to the customer.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• May require to lift up to 35 lbs.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
