About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ARCYBER, Fort Eisenhower.
Duties
Serves as the focal point for expertise in advanced computer network techniques with responsibility for evaluating, designing, implementing, and sustaining all data communication operations and networking systems.
Operates, maintains, and optimizes network devices to deliver reliable services to the ARCYBER HQ.
Utilizes advanced IT principles, concepts, and methods to independently troubleshoot local and regional issues of the entire security stack as well as individual devices.
Applies a complete understanding of networks and systems to restore services rapidly.
Responds quickly and makes decisions independently to correct outages and degradations in service that occur from time to time.
Also coordinates with the agencies for logistics, troubleshooting, and delivery and receipt of equipment.
Develops and documents new processes to achieve greater efficiency and reliability within the G6 staff for the above tasks.
Provides network and security engineering in support of the ARCYBER HQ.
Installs, tests, maintains, and upgrades networking systems software and/or hardware which provide decision making information support related to Command, installation, and local area networks.
Coordinates all non-classified internet protocol router network, secret internet protocol router network, and joint worldwide intelligence communications systems, and ASI’s (authorized service interruptions) expected to be traffic-affecting outages.
Provides technical and troubleshooting support to the Local Network Enterprise Center and addresses network issues within the ARCYBER HQ.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Must undergo and successfully complete an initial and periodic Counter-Intelligence Polygraph (CI Poly) examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
- Must pass an initial and periodic urinalysis screening for illegal drug use.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain access to NSA and Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) accredited facilities and networks. [Military External Affairs Division (MEAD) Security In-Processing (SIP) process.]
- Temporary duty travel may be required approximately 15% of the time.
- In performing above duties, overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- This is a mission essential position and is occupied by a command designated emergency employee. You will be expected to report to or remain at your worksite during dismissal or closure situations.
- Although some work is sedentary, work conditions such as ergonomic issues related to lifting and carrying, seating, or video display terminals; repetitive motion injury from using computers, and the like may be expected.
- Incumbent (or Selectee) is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position within six months of being assigned. For this position the minimum of Cisco CCNP.
- Position is designated as Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level-II.
- The incumbent (or selectee) is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate computing environment training and obtain the required certification applicable to the computing environment and baseline certification for IAT-II.
- Failure to satisfactory obtain and/or maintain updated certifications IAW publication listed are grounds for termination.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance with access to SCI.

Specialized experience would be demonstrated by Must possess advanced experience in computer network techniques, data communication operations, and networking systems; Able to troubleshoot network and individual devices in a complex and challenging environment of differing classifications; Develops and documents new processes to ensure efficiency and reliability of network systems; Integrate numerous military networks from across the globe at varying classification levels into the ARCYBER infrastructure for mission requirements.
