About the Position: Serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor to plan and direct the accomplishment of assigned work within the limits of policies, regulations and basic maintenance schedules set by management, assigned to the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS), located in Dona Ana, New Mexico

Duties

Supports live fire ranges and multiple urban training facilities containing structures. Supervises maintenance operations in support of the ranges and training area facilities Analyzes layout of ranges, develops changes ensuring modifications comply with the mission of the range as well as safety, environmental and power requirements. Monitors and stays current with changes in target systems technology. Identifies future needs and recommends new acquisitions for the installation 5-year plan.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).

Determining training needs and developing training plans, establishing project deadlines, setting priorities and perform a full range of supervisory and administrative personnel duties to include hiring actions, establishing performance standards, providing individual ratings, counseling and taking disciplinary actions when needed. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Lead or SuperviseAbility To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Use of Measuring Instruments PLANNING: Plans daily, weekly and monthly work schedules for subordinates. Establishes shop deadlines and priorities based on methods, procedures, deadlines and goals, established by the Executive Officer. Determine what assignments can be done concurrently, how many to delay, and the number and types of personnel needed, considering skills, personnel, materials and equipment available and required. Coordinates with the Maintenance Worker Leader(s) on work performed in the Ranges and Training Area Facilities (RTAF). Investigates work related problems and implement corrective actions. Plans overall leave schedule. Determines annual training needs of subordinates. Establishes performance standards and makes formal appraisals of subordinate work performance. WORK DIRECTION: Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods and procedures, instructs subordinates on new procedures and provides advice when problems arise. Reviews work in progress and/or upon completion. Adjusts work plans, schedules, assignments, and methods to accomplish work as effectively and economically as possible. Determines equipment, supplies and materials required to complete assignments. Assures the delivery of supplies and equipment at work sites as needed. Works with the Supervisory Executive Officer to establish the annual range maintenance/operation plan. Provides suggestions for supplies, equipment and materials needed for the upcoming year.
