About the Position: The Maintenance Worker positions are located at Dona Ana Base Camp, Oro Grande, New Mexico. The positions perform preventive maintenance on small arms ranges, to include construction, paint, repair and electrical maintenance of target devices and buildings.

Duties

Fabricate and install targets, target pits, gun pits and grenade bunkers, target frames, lane firing points, Stumps, sandbags, road barriers, by fitting gluing, nailing, bolting, and screwing sections according to drawings and specifications. Cuts brush, tree limbs, trees and grass to clear lanes of fire by utilizing mowing machines, tractors with bush hogs, and/or other tools and equipment as required. Replaces broken or damaged hardware such as locks, hinges, brackets, etc. Selects materials required and transports them to shop or work site. Paints signs, targets, markers and structures by using standard coating methods and by the application of coating techniques that ensure surfaces are fully coated and protected. Uses basic mathematics to plan, layout, and measure materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications.

• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• Position may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty to include working, days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays and/or shift work, depending on the mission requirements of the organization.

Work is subject to rotational shifts, as required, to provide 24 hour range support during training exercises. Worker is subject to cuts from hand or power tools and danger from flying splinters, chips and sawdust. Incumbent is also subject to electrical shock and burns when using electrical equipment or performing maintenance.
