Come join the Inter-American Foundation (IAF), a nimble and transformative U.S. government agency that invests in community-led development across Latin America and the Caribbean. Reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief of Staff directly supports the Agency's senior leadership and strategic plan by managing a front office, incubating new and emerging initiatives, driving change management, and overseeing efforts to strengthen engagement with inter-agency and private partners.

Duties

Performing a variety of complex and sensitive assignments involving the implementation of policies, activities, and directives; Contributing strategic thinking, planning and implementation to the functioning of the Management Team; Facilitating timely decision-making and a productive balance between short-term and long-term priorities; Overseeing high quality execution across the IAF including supporting rigorous analysis, strategic alignment, and accountability; Fostering inclusive and productive relationships between the Front Office, Management Team, and staff throughout the IAF; Recommending action by the President/CEO, including signing of documents, action memoranda, letters, and position papers pertaining to general or specific questions from within or outside of the IAF; Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with other U.S. Government agencies, multilateral development banks, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academic institutions; and Identifyng and leveraging opportunities where partner relationships can enhance the success of IAFs programs, as well as to support integration and implementation with agency programs and operations.

Qualifications

Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Applicants must meet the specialized experience requirements below. In order to be eligible for the GS-15 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience is defined as experience which reflects the ability to: Develop and lead strategic goals for major organizational initiatives or activities such as performance monitoring, internal controls, analysis and evaluation of programs or mission support effectiveness; Initiate partnerships and foster collaboration with a diverse array of stakeholders; Set long range goals and objectives to guide business activities and critical support services with maximum efficiency, effectiveness and accountability; and Perform supervisory responsibilities to provide overall management of front office priorities. The following experience is highly desirable and preferred but not required. Experience in Foreign Assistance (grants management, non-governmental organizations-NGOs, U.S. government or similar) especially in Latin America and the Caribbean, and with proficiency to speak, read, and understand Spanish to be able to communicate professionally from Spanish to English and English to Spanish. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
